In summer and winter, you find numerous quality places to relax all around Wolfgangsee. In addition to all kinds of water sports - even including surfing thanks to the frequent northwest wind and the foehn - you can explore the wonderful region on innumerable and varied bicycle, hiking and walking trails. If the sky is your limit, you can hire an experienced two-seater pilot for a tandem paraglider trip or take in the majestic Salzkammergut scenery from the basket of a hot-air balloon. Five golf clubs, twelve Iceland ponies, fixed-rope routes, gardens and walls can be reached quickly from the Landhaus.
Europe's second largest plateau with seemingly endless hiking and walking trails. One of the most beautiful routes leads to the Wieslerhorn. You can enjoy splendid views from the summit, and the return route leads past the oldest hut, the Postalm, and the Postalm chapel.
Since 1893, Austria's steepest steam cog railway has led from St. Wolfgang up the Schafberg. In 35 min, it gains 1,190 m in altitude and a distance of 5.85 km up to Schafberg summit. Or you can take one of the many charming hiking routes and make your way up to the summit on foot. Once you have reached the top, a unique view of the surrounding mountains and 13 picturesque lakes in the Salzkammergut awaits you. If the descent is more than you are in the mood for, you can ride down on the cog railway.Summer
Pilgrimage path woven in legend with spectacular views. A total of 24 signposted interactive points document the special significance of this path. At the stations, you can learn interesting information about the ancient places of worship, Christian missionary work, and of course the hermitage and the spring on the Falkenstein. Shortly before and shortly after the hermitage on the Falkenstein saddle, a marked side path leads to the Aberseeblick and Scheffelblick viewing points, which offer a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. The main attraction on the wide pilgrimage path is the small Falkenstein church, the former hermitage of St. Wolfgang. Inside you will find the "Wishing Bell". The hike in the footsteps of pilgrims promises a special charm.
The nostalgic cable car will bring you to the top of a wonderful panoramic mountain, where you can then choose from a variety of hiking and theme trails.
